UC grad finds successful role at Procter & Gamble

When Monica Salatin finished her undergraduate program in media studies at CUNY Hunter, Macaulay Honors College, she knew she wanted to deepen her education in communications. So, when she received a full scholarship to study at UC’s Master of Communications program, she took the opportunity. While at UC, Salatin took advantage of the experiences the college had to offer, including conducting research, and a position with the marketing and communications office for the College of Arts and Sciences. These opportunities provided her with the hands-on experience she wanted, setting her up for her career.

UC study: Many seniors fear cataract surgery

Cataract surgery is one of the most foolproof procedures in medicine, with a success rate as high as 95%. Nevertheless, many seniors don’t get cataract surgery because they fear losing their sight, University of Cincinnati College of Medicine researchers reported recently in the journal Clinical Ophthalmology. The UC study was recently featured in U.S. News & World Report.

In a new short film created by CCM's Production Master Class, viewers can watch as a team of students put their education into action during one of Cincinnati's most popular events. Titled "Blink: A Spotlight on CCM," this mini documentary explores how CCM Lighting Design and Technology students contributed to BLINK, the nation's largest immersive art and light event. Held Oct. 17-20, 2024, BLINK transformed 30+ city blocks from Over-the-Rhine through Northern Kentucky and drew an estimated crowd of over 2 million people to the Greater Cincinnati region.

When Emma Kalinowski first arrived at UC, she went through a handful of major changes before her burgeoning love of fitness led her to the School of Human Service's Exercise Science program. Now a senior about to graduate and inspired by a recent internship experience, she's readying to start a master's program in the fall. The CECH student spoke with us about her time at UC and her plans for a career in pediatric exercise physiology.
